Another Upahaar in offing?

In 1997, Uphaar Cinema was burned down by a fire that erupted from a 1000 kVA electricity transformer in its basement. Fifty-nine persons died in the fire and 103 were injured. Nearly 750 escaped from the horror.

I saw a possibility of something similar when I visited Talkie Town yesterday at Hyderabad and amazed how government can allow operation of such activities which can risks lifes of 1000s of people.

I went to watch ‘Welcome’ one of the latest hindi flick in Krishna-Narshima screens of talkie town in Miyapur yesterday. To my surpise exit route for all the people coming out of the hall was blocked with lots of contruction material including iron structures, mound of sand (or something similar). Add to that, there was some water leakage happening which made the complete route pretty slippery.

It was just not the route, i found that hall itself is not yet ready( or atleast its management) to take on to the challenges of converting an old theatre into a cinemaplex. I found lots of people complaining about mosquitos inside the hall, insufficient number of toilets, cleaniness of toilets, mall functioning of ACs and what not.

I hope someone will take immediate action to rectify these serious flaws which are definitely big risk to all talkie town movie goers.

Hey Hi, its good to see that you shared you experience.
The pain points you mentioned certainly are important, however nothing beats the safety aspect which is the most important part.
its good that you brought it to the notice of the authorities but if you dont see anything happening on the same then another good option is to become a Citizen Journalist and send cnbc an email with photos attached.

Just a suggestion which can shake the authorities.
