Rate Hyderabad

Japan is always talked about for its cutting edge technologies and the way they treat their guests. Tonnes of stories around of their great hospitality and my short stint adds into saga. One of the success mantra for Japanese I believe is they still believe in their culture while they strive to innovate beyond tommorrow.

So far Hyderabad is getting audaciously advertised as Best (relatively) as Bangalore loosing charm as Indian Silicon valley. But is this enough for getting a BEST city award for Hyderabad.

How do you rate your city? Hyderabad?

Well things looks rosy, lots of IT companies coming up, those which are already there are exxpaanddinng like anything, real estate is booming and what not. But read below about what someone has experienced in Hyderabad

Yesterday a couple were driving back to their home from their day long weekend shopping et. al. Backseat of their sedan was full of gifts and shopping they just did for their cute lil nephew. Weather was fantastic, downpour just stopped . Couple decided to drop window glass and enjoy cool breeze. But then SPLASSH !!!

A car just bypassed them with very high speed, crossing water clogged road, and filling the couple’s car with all mud & water. Backseat items got complety ruined with mucky road water and the duo got drained with dingything. For a second, front glasses turned into a brown board bringing down visibility to zero….SHIT

ZEROOOOOO,

Now you rate your hyderabad.

Bangalore grew overnight and nobody could think of the rush and now it has reached maximum hights and the development works cannot get to the pace of further growth. This is the basic reason for loosing the charm. People have started thinking of the next alternative which is closer to Bangalore. Naturally, it is Hyderabad or Chennai. This is good for Hyderabad. Now that we know that next happening place is Hyderabad, it should awake and plan the infrastructure and welcome with everything ready for the companies to have their base. I think it takes another 5 to 8 years for Hyderabad to make the fame Bangalore has made years ago. Some of the immediate points which Hyderabad should work upon to drive in the front seat are
    1. Increase traffic sense among people.
    2. Have proper drinage, electricity and water facility in outskirts of the cities.
    3. Plan infrastructure in different locations to concentration in one place
    4. Improve talents (many companies are getting resource from outside hyderabad)

Basic reason why Bangalore attracted software companes was climate and the talents. But currently climate is taking U turn and coming close to Hyderabad wheather. So left out is the talent. I am sure Hyderabad can wake up and get this fixed.

Currently I can rate Hyderabad around 2 or 3 in the scale of 1 to 10 considering Bangalore being in 8 or 9. But days or not faraway where this number can go beyond Bangalore’s score

Well, whatever happened was terrible; if I was in your place I would have felt exactly the same.

But I beg to differ, as how that’s has to do anything with Hyderabad as a city.

    Assume for a second. (Fiction)

I know that guy to splash all the dirty water on your car but he is from Delhi, he was in Hyderabad for one day. (Bad Luck)

Point is such things can happen in Hawaii or Honolulu too.

Coming back to the Driving Practices in Hyderabad (Note: not the traffic but driving skills): It is the WORST. I have never seen so many terrible drivers with no traffic or driving sense in one place.

I blame the useless traffic cops and no one else, any other city in India has equal number of bad drivers but the traffic police are tough and even if they take bribe; they do something about it to keep things under control. (There needs to be fear of something to obey any forms of rules)

On the other hand Hyderabad Traffic Police is practically useless.

I have shifted from arguably the best and the worst city in India – Mumbai and I can say that Hyderabad’s infrastructure, quality of roads, vegetations, and maintenance are very impressive. I am impressed by this city but yes the worst drivers in the world are Hyderabad’ies (IMHO)

Btw, I did not knew that driver ;)

    I agree with you Sumit.

That driver may not be from Hyderabad, but it just added to traffic woes in hyderabad.

Point I wanted to raise is, ‘wake up early before someone else take away the torch of fame from Hyderabad’

    Yup, i agree.

What can we do as individuals
    1. Drive like humans
    2. Tell MS cab drivers to drive well
    3. Teach our family memebers to drive well

rest i am not sure how can individuals can tacke the situation

hi ruchit i think that its more of willingsness of ppl to change their mindset and start cracking the problems on hand. well bangalore is one very good example as what would happen to once a sprawling garden city if a city grows at a rate which is totally unplanned.

point 2. just opening up for foreign FDI does not help. first an overview of the infrastructure needs to be done and then expansion with required aminities to be put in place.

with all these inconv at bangalore, i would still rate bangalore at 8.5 on a 10 point scale. cant say bout hyderabad since its been really long since i have seen the city. plan to visit while ur still around over there. :-)
