Managing expectations is one of the key and the toughest part of anybody’s life, be it a professional situation or be it in personal life.
Companies have to manage expectations of their clients and make everybody feel win-win. Group Leaders have to manage expectations of their subbordinates and get quality work out of them. Executives have to manage expectations of their superiors and serve them in that angle… and so on.
In Personal lifes, individuals have to manage expectations of their spouses, parents, childrens…relations…
Managing expectations is key to the success for professionals; Its not only managing others but managing expectation of ourselfs is equally critical for the success. Individuals/companies have to manage their own expectations, prioritize the goals and chart out their growth plans.
Expectations between two individual relates to their relations ( pshycological, social ….interests). Though with the human experience you can understand a degree of expectations between indiviaudals, their can not be a well defined set of rules which can define the expectation level given the parameters for the individuals.
To add up with the complexity of understanding the expectations, expectations keeps changing. When you are new in the market there are little or no expectations from you, when you grow while consistently providing solutions and making positive news, expectations grows and you have to perform rigourously continously to keep climbing the Adaptation Cycle.
Their is no way around it; whatsoever you do, give presentations, buy gifts, pamper…. whatever you can imagine, you have to meet the expectations of the others.
Manage expectations and win the race.
